Holy Fire Church Vernon began its ministry in Vernon in 2016 with a small group of people, a commitment to prayer, and a desire to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ come alive and make a real difference in people’s lives.
Pastor Eugene Chubynsky came to Canada from Israel in 2015. He initially lived and served in the community of Wonowon, where Pastor Alexander Simon supported him as he went through the process of immigrating to Canada.
After moving to Vernon, Eugene felt a strong desire to begin a new church ministry. Pastor Alexander Simon encouraged him to establish a church in Vernon. At the same time, Pastor Victor Goldnik, who was serving at one of the churches in Vernon, expressed a similar vision and supported the idea of beginning a new church ministry.
And so, in 2016, the story of our church began.
The first steps were simple. A small group of people gathered in homes to pray, fellowship, and visit different churches throughout the city. The first Holy Fire Church services were held in the meeting hall of a seniors’ residence. Over time, we moved from one location to another, renting different spaces where we could gather for worship and fellowship.
Starting a new church in a small city where many well-established and larger churches were already serving was not easy. Yet we believed that if God was calling us to this ministry, He would lead us and open the doors we needed.
Pastor Victor Goldnik played an important role in supporting the church during its early years. He attended our services, preached, and encouraged the new ministry.
We see the church as a spiritual family where people come to know God, grow in Christ, serve one another with the gifts God has given them, and together pursue unity in faith and spiritual maturity.
We want to be a church where every person can find their place, develop the gifts God has given them, and take part in His work.
Our desire is to see people become more than church attendees. We want them to become disciples of Jesus Christ—people whose faith becomes a way of life, whose character is transformed by Christ, and whose lives become a blessing to others.
We believe in a church that lives in the presence of God, is rooted in His Word, remains open to the work of the Holy Spirit, and carries the love of Christ to the people around us.
Our desire is to grow together in Christ, serve people, and be a light for the Gospel in our city and beyond.
Our faith is grounded in the Bible—the Word of God. We seek not only to know biblical truth, but also to live it out as we grow in our relationship with God and with one another.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the highest authority for faith, doctrine, and Christian living. We believe that the Holy Spirit illuminates Scripture and helps us understand and apply God's Word correctly. The work of the Holy Spirit never contradicts Scripture.
We believe in one God who exists eternally in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, yet there is one God. We believe that God is holy, righteous, loving, and merciful, and that He is worthy of our whole lives and our worship.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death on the cross for the sins of humanity, bodily resurrection from the dead, ascension into heaven, and His future return in glory. We believe that reconciliation with God and salvation are found only through Jesus Christ.
We believe that salvation is a gift from God and that a person receives it by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation cannot be earned through good works or human merit. A person is called to repent of their sins, believe in Jesus Christ, and confess Him as Lord and Savior. True faith leads to a transformed life and is demonstrated through good works and obedience to God.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, who dwells in believers, convicts us of sin, teaches and comforts us, leads us into truth, and gives spiritual gifts for ministry and the building up of the Church. We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as a distinct work of God in the life of a believer.

We believe that the Church is the Body of Jesus Christ and a spiritual family made up of those who have been born again.
Christ is the Head of the Church, and every believer is a valuable and important part of His Body.
We are called not simply to attend church services, but to live in fellowship, love, and unity with other believers, to serve one another, and to participate together in God’s work.
Every believer has been given gifts by God and is called to use those gifts to build up the Church, serve others, and spread the Gospel.
During our very first year, something happened that became an important testimony of God’s work among us: a family came to the church, repented, and received water baptism.
From that point forward, the church gradually began to grow. Year after year, we saw people turn to God and follow Him through water baptism.
For us, however, church has never been simply a place where people gather on Sundays. We have always desired to be a church that reaches beyond its walls and practically serves the people of our city.
One of the areas of our ministry has been children’s ministry. During the summer, we organized one-day children’s camps in the park. Today, this ministry continues to develop as we look for effective ways to serve children and families in our community.
Later, a charitable mission was established under the leadership of Konstantin Chubynsky. Through this ministry, we have been able to help not only people within our church but also those who are not yet part of a church community.
We have helped people move, transported furniture and personal belongings, assisted with home repairs, and simply been there when people needed practical support.
We believe that the love of Christ should be seen not only in our words, but also in the way we live and serve others.
Over the years, various ministries and opportunities for fellowship and spiritual growth have developed within our church.
We regularly organize:
Pastor Eugene Chubynsky has also visited churches across Canada at the invitation of pastors, teaching and training preachers and helping them grow in their ability to prepare and preach the Word of God. For us, church is not simply about gathering people together. We want to help every person grow in their relationship with God and become a mature follower of Christ.
Today, we look not only at what God has already done, but also toward where He is leading us next.
Our desire is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Vernon and beyond, lead people into a relationship with God, and help them become disciples of Christ.
We want the church to be a true spiritual family where every person is welcomed, loved, and given the opportunity to serve others with the gifts God has given them.
We believe that the Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. God brings us together as one body so that we can serve and support one another and grow together.
That is why we want every member of our church not only to attend services, but also to discover their place in ministry and use their gifts to serve others.
We strive to live out the words of the Apostle Paul:
Ephesians 4:15–16
We believe that God continues to build His Church, and we look to the future with faith and expectation, trusting Him for all that He will yet accomplish.
We see the church as a spiritual family where people come to know God, grow in Christ, serve one another with the gifts God has given them, and together pursue unity in faith and spiritual maturity.
